Does it make sense to pay for an extended warranty to cover your home appliances?

My advice would be don’t waste the money.

Modern appliances are fairly reliable and are unlikely to fail you even during an extended warranty period.

Even if they do break down, what you’re paying out of pocket is often less than the cost of an extended warranty.

Tis the Season! We all love our beautifully decorated Christmas tree

Sadly, live Christmas trees are the leading cause of house fires over the holidays.

If you do opt to buy a real tree, make sure it has plenty of water and is fresh at the time of purchase.

Once the tree inevitably dries out, it’s no longer safe to keep inside and should be removed.

Do you need another good reason to list your home in the fall or winter?

January and February are popular months for corporate relocation which means there are buyers who need to move fast and find a new home.

When someone is relocated, they have a lot on their plate. Finding a new school for their kids, selling their current home and moving are all stressors.

So when they find a home that meets their needs, they are motivated to close the deal.

Top Home Buying Tips

Tip #2: Don’t ignore maintenance costs

As an experienced home contractor, I can safely say small problems grow quickly when they’re ignored. The size and age of the home will have an impact on the cost of repairs and maintenance.

Your best resource to consult is the sellers. Ask them what they roughly pay every year on maintaining the home.

Ignoring small costs can increase energy costs and lead to expensive repairs so don’t neglect this detail!
